My first impressions of the Girls Home was that it was a very big green blue building. We had a lovely meal with the staff and some of the children. They weren’t at school the day we visited as there was a holiday. The girls introduced themselves and said how old they were. Some of them were sisters. We were all a bit shy but some of them tried to speak English!
Soon we were busy playing at the little playground and volleyball in the CCM garden.
The day we visited the Boy’s Home we helped to make the lunch by picking the little malunggay leaves to go in the dish.
Reuben enjoyed playing basketball with the other boys even though it was very hot!
My mum did a devotion in the Boy’s Home and my dad translated it into Tagalog. It was about how we all need to be rescued from our sin and God sent Jesus to take the punishment we deserve. We sang a song together.
I enjoyed seeing the children and those who were looking after them and it’s good that they be looked after well and that they can hear about Jesus in their own language.
Ate Gerlie gave me a canvas and I wanted to paint a picture of the Homes for a gift to give them when we left.
I wrote the words from the Matthew 19:14 on the painting because it reminds me that Jesus welcomes us all, no matter our language or nationality or background, to come to Him and trust Him.
