In 2022, two sisters came to the CCM Girls Home. Jill and Elizabeth (not their real names) were placed under temporary custody and care of Christian Compassion Ministries following a referral made by a local government agency. Sadly, the girls were victims of physical abuse inflicted by their biological father.
The abuse began after the father sustained a head injury following a motorcycle accident involving a collision with a moving truck. The lack of proper medical treatment for his injuries reportedly contributed to behavioral changes, including heightened irritability, which tragically led to episodes of physical abuse towards his daughters.
The siblings frequently fled from their home and sought refuge with neighbours until they were eventually rescued by authorities. Recognising the severity and persistence of the abuse, social workers filed a criminal case against the father. Court proceedings began.
Throughout the hearings, Jill and Elizabeth were called to testify, recounting their traumatic experiences through tears in front of the court. The case spanned nearly three years of legal proceedings.
In February 2025, the court finally reached a verdict. The father was found guilty beyond reasonable doubt and was sentenced to imprisonment for crimes against his daughters.
We are in deep gratitude to the Lord, who sustained and protected the children throughout their most difficult times. Indeed, God is near to the brokenhearted and He defends the oppressed, especially the innocent and vulnerable ones.
Please do pray for the children living in the Homes; many have similar stories of abuse and neglect. May they receive the help, guidance, counselling and support they need to help them process these events and understand God’s love for them.
